The 225 Day Project

So starting today is my 225 day project and you are probably wondering what is this about? It is about my 5 year long battle with my weight. Many have inquired at my reasoning for wanting to lose weight when I seem like the average American standard weight. That's a problem actually. Americans tend to be 20 - 30lbs heavier than most other developed nations. We also consume way more food than other developed nations without any shame and the results show in our waistlines. African-Americans have more health concerns as we get older, Some of those major things being high blood pressure, Type1 or 2-diabetes, high cholesterol, colon cancer in no particular order so it is important to begin now on the road to a long healthy life.

I am currently 5'11 and 178lbs, I so far since returning to the gym after my "Educational Sebattical". While in school I gained a total of 15 - 20lbs without even trying. The same thing happened in 2005 when I moved from Miami, FL to New York City, I gained gained 24lbs and quickly got in the gym, established a workout partner and an affair with Hydroxycut Hardcore, the best weight lost pills that ever made its way to the market, which by the way if anyone didn't know, it's been recalled and pulled off shelves everywhere. Going back to 2005, I managed to get down to 160lbs which people think at 5'11 is too slim when in fact thats exactly where 5'11 male should be with a 31 - 32 inch waist.

So I know what the next question is going to be. "What happened? What happened that you simply couldn't keep the weight off?" The answer is simple "Life happened". I simply did not commit to working out especially when working 40+ hours a week at a job that claims to be flexible when they need you but not flexible when you need them to be and I understand that is no excuse but its the best reason I can come up with. Genetics has a funny way of expressing its comedic side. There are many people that are slim and happy and there are those that are fat and happy. I for one, tend to like both these people because they can eat whatever they want without having any guilty qualms. Then there are the in between the spectrums. These people consist of the ones that are skinny that want to be buff and muscular and people like me that want are thick in certain areas and want to slim down and rock a sick six pack. What these two individuals have in common is that they both want to look good with their shirt off, they want to look good booty naked. I want to look good naked.

As men we are visual, we like to see that it looks good before we touch it, smell it and taste it. Remember how difficult it was to eat vegetables when you were a kid? I've had several of these discussions over the years with friends who tell me with all the sincerity in the world "...you are perfectly fine, if you lose weight you are going to look like a crackhead, you look fine the way you are" So lets do a small exercise.

Who would you rather holla at? Who would you most likely give a completely wrong number to if they tried to holla at you?

The 225 Day Project is the my personal weight loss program, I don't really have a goal except to get physical fit first and then sexy in 2010. With the help of friends, a trainer, diet and a workout plan, I hope that in 225 Days I can get down to a 32 inch waist and down to 165lbs. If you are wondering why I chose 225 as my number. It will be 225 days until my birthday and who doesn't want to look good on their day? Well, thanks for reading and wish me luck, I will be keeping you posted.

Let's see if I can do this absolutely sober

I'm Ranity, I'm fun, witty and stimulating. I like politics, don't go to clubs in the Northeast because they're lame and I don't date guys that only listen to Beyonce on their ipod. I love Hip-Hop but not the mainsteam Top 40 stuff and for the record, Auto-tunes is so lame. I've traveled to Philadelphia, I've lived in Miami, I've been to Charleston, SC and also New Orleans, LA which happens to be one of my favourite cities in America. This is just a small introduction. I promise I'll give another crack at this but for the moment, I'm way too sober to really express myself candidly to a blank screen. Sorry just keeping it real.
